SCIENCE MUSEUM AND SOCIETY– A CASE STUDY By Dr. Rajesh Grover and Dr. Munish Soin

ABSTRACT
The present study highlights the role of Pushpa Gujral Science City (PGSC) in
popularization of Science amongst masses to create scientific awareness through
informal way. PGSC is the biggest project of its kind in Northern India, which acquire,
conserve, and demonstrate science exhibits for the purpose of dissemination of scientific
concepts in a playful manner. A study was carried out to understand the role of PGSC in
popularization of science in the region during the period 2010-2015. Findings of the
study has revealed that more than 17 lac visitors comprising 78 % students and 19%
families got benefit of edutainment facilities at Science City, Kapurthala in its impeccably
maintained campus with >85% satisfied clientele as evidenced from feedback forms and
comments on social networking/travel sites.
