Abstract

Age Zero to six is a very important period for a human being 80% of physical, mental and social development of a child is happened during the first three months. Being the period of brain expansion children are provided with appropriate quality experiences at that time. The amount of love and care the child gets is reducing in the present nuclear family setup. Therefore each creche must be able to cater the physical, mental, intellectual and social needs of the child. Institute and its premises must be child friendly in appropriate for the growth and development of the child. Workers in the creche must be competent to this. This is a status study of creches working in Kannur district under the guidance and support of ‘State Child Welfare Committee’.  Even though there is no claim that it is done using a fully scientific and fools proof tools, it is done in the light of evidences collected through questionnaires, interviews, institutional observations. It is an informal study conducted as an activist in child education.
